£0.00 Vinas del Vero Gewurztraminer, 2013, Somontano, Spain
I tasted this at my wine course the other day and the students were most impressed by it. The distinctive Gewurztraminer grape is fresh, lifted, lightly spicy and slightly floral. It’s almost dry with hints of peach, apricot and lemon. We all thought it would be lovely to drink with mild creamy curries or roast vegetable risotto. The Somontano region of Northern Spain is a breathtaking area at the foothills of the Pyrenees full of wild treks, mountain bikers and ancient history enthusiasts; not to mention the truffle hunters - just coming into season.

£0.00 Bodegas Torremoron Tempranillo 2013, Ribera del Duero, Spain
Vineyards on this high sunny plateau in the heart of northern Spain enjoy huge skies and chalky, schistous soils, ideal for ripening. This Tempranillo is from 30 - 60 year old vines and has lovely earthy autumn hedgerow fruit flavours. It is not wooded, so has a freshness and clarity and is delicious with pan seared pork and thyme, or roast pork and fennel.

£0.00 Nostros Sauvignon Blanc Reserva, Casablanca Valley, Chile
Aromatic, dry and grassy. This is all about refreshment and just what I fancy drinking on the freshly cut lawn; on the beach; or on the back step. If you haven't come across the zinging Chilean recipe for Pebre yet - lemon, coriander and a hint of chile - you have to try it with scallops and this chilled white wine. Happy summer!

Available from The Oxford Wine Company shops and cafes.

£10.99 Ch de la Deidiere Rose
Cotes de Provence. Just great with salad Nicoise. I love the pale colour, soft fruitiness and the promise of warm days watching the world go by outside a cafe with the sound of the sea.
